About Robyn

Born in South Africa, I love being outside, running around and splashing about! At school, I immersed myself in books and maximised (British spelling!) time on the sports field. I went on to university to learn but also to enjoy more sport! Later I enjoyed interspersing my travels by years working as a personal trainer, business administrator and associate in international banking – all of which funded my voyages of discovery and gave me valuable commercial experience. Later in life, I finally followed my father’s advice and became a teacher. Dads know! But I know that first experiencing life and work outside the classroom before returning to it makes me a better teacher than I might have been.

I am a British qualified (QTS) teacher with a master’s degree in education and over 15 years’ experience: teaching students from age 9 right through to a lovely lady aged 80. Almost always in the classroom – although I still strongly believe that the best lessons are learnt outside where I still spend a lot of time running around mountains and swimming in lakes.

​I love my job. I love seeing my students improve, succeed and grow in confidence. Their award-winning results and table-topping class scores are my pride and joy! I especially enjoy learning from my students who continually challenge my own ideas and keep me on my toes. We are never too old to learn!

I am able to empathise (more British spelling) with, encourage and enable students. As a pedantic English teacher with commercial experience, I precisely edit clients’ writing for the purposes of career development, publication, and academic submission (projects, assignments and coursework).
