Student work and feedback samples

Samples of projects done between ages 10 and 14 year old students
Creative Writing, Poetry Anthology Project for ages 10/11.
Students first learn, create, and then hand write their sloppy copies. These then get marked with lots of feedback after which students type up and format their neat copy. It is all their own work.
This is a great way to get to know new students to high school and learn important literary skills, terminology and writing discipline all at the same time!
We learnt about syllable structure, rhythm, rhyme, alliteration, metaphors, similes, enjambment, onomatopoeia as well as about different forms of poetry like: Haiku, Cinquain, Tanka, Limericks…
Non-Fiction Itinerary Writing Project (ages 12/13): Students first research and hand write their sloppy copies. These then get marked with lots of feedback after which students type up and format their neat copy. This particular activity is a useful cross curricular activity for Geography and the Jurassic Coast of England and a useful life skill teaching the skills of planning and organising trips.
