Students first learn, create, and then hand write their sloppy copies. These then get marked with lots of feedback after which students type up and format their neat copy. It is all their own work.
This is a great way to get to know new students to high school and learn important literary skills, terminology and writing discipline all at the same time!
We learnt about syllable structure, rhythm, rhyme, alliteration, metaphors, similes, enjambment, onomatopoeia as well as about different forms of poetry like: Haiku, Cinquain, Tanka, Limericks…
